Job Overview & Responsibilities

The Manager, Sales for Federal Civilian sales manages an assigned team of sales representatives to drive sales and achieve financial goals within the Federal core business. In this management role, this leader provides training, development, and motivation to the assigned sales team members and manages overall team performance. This role emphasizes selling product features based on analysis of customer needs, and on technical knowledge of product capabilities and limitations. Interacts directly with customers and collaborates with sales teams and channels.  

 

Duties and Responsibilities 

  

Sales Duties and Responsibilities: 

  • Track sales pipeline activity in Salesforce and provide accurate sales forecasts. 
  • Managing pipelines of reporting sales representatives. 
  • Utilize company leads to expand current customer base and follow up on all leads promptly. 
  • Create and/or assist with customized proposals and sales quotes to meet specific customer requirements. 
  • Negotiate pricing and terms of sale to finalize and close business with the customer. 
  • Provide quality customer service, including interacting with customers, answering customer inquiries, and effectively handling customer complaints. 
  • Prepare sales reports. 
  • Reach sales targets set by the Management Team. 
  • Develop and maintain a reputation as a valuable resource for the OEM management team. 
  • Establish and maintain key relationships with partners, vendors, and/or manufacturers at all levels of the organization. 
  • Consolidate necessary documents for team access. 
  • Assist managers in sales strategy development. 
  • Support Call Blitzes.
  • Assist with Federal oversight of all workshops.

  Management Duties and Responsibilities: 

  • Oversee day-to-day operations. 
  • Validate sales team questions and concerns. 
  • Work with management to evaluate and develop business line and territories. 
  • Assist team in achieving sales goals. 
  • Stay abreast of new products and services to train the sales representatives with updated information. 
  • Train and coach assigned sales reps. 
  • Conduct individual meetings to update members on best practices and continuing expectations and listen to team member's feedback to resolve any issues or conflicts. 
  • Delegate tasks and set deadlines for assigned group. 
  • Recognize high performance and reward accomplishments. 
  • Provide daily guidance on sales skills and development, territory strategies and tactics. 
  • Work with team marketing and sales reps to define quarterly marketing events and campaigns aligned with company and manufacturer objectives. 

 Other Duties

  • Perform all other duties, as assigned.

Qualifications

Minimum Education and Experience

  • Bachelor's degree in Sales, Business Administration or related field and/or equivalent combination of education and/or experience.
  • 7+ years of sales experience, preferably in technology industry.
  • 2+ years of supervisory experience.
  • Some experience in public sector selling technology products.

  • Ability to sell technology products such as Red Hat and Adobe solutions
  • Ability to build rapport with customers and identify their needs to drive customer satisfaction
  • Ability to effectively lead a high performing team of sales representatives
  • Strong technical acumen
  • Ability to work with peers and management cross functionally on employee issues
  • Ability to promote a positive and inclusive work culture
  • Effective written and verbal communication
  • Ability to organize, manage and prioritize multiple deals to meet deadlines
  • Sound judgment in decision-making and problem solving
  • Ability to deliver results accurately and with a high sense of urgency
