    The Sr. Database Systems Analyst/Programmer will establish procedures to solve complex problems regarding system equipment capacity and limitations, operating time and output. The candidate will work second-shift operational support Monday through Friday and some weekends, 8-hour shift starting at 11:00 am or 12:00 pm Further, the candidate will diagram information flow, showing source and distribution of all segments, processing elements, channels, and methods of entering corrections, and data retention requirements.    Support will be provided to a major 5 year program supporting the client’s mission to protect the lives and interests of American citizens living or traveling abroad, and to enhance the national security of the United States.


    Responsibilities include:

    • Participates as a leader within the database engineering, data management/sharing, database applications and/or SOA/ESB teams
    • Under general direction, designs, implements and maintains complex Oracle databases with respect to access methods, access time, device allocation, validation checks, organization, protection and security, documentation and statistical methods
    • Includes maintenance of database dictionaries, overall monitoring of standards and procedures and integration of systems through database design
    • Competent to work at the highest level in multiple phases of database management
    • Works with project managers, developers, and end users to ensure database system designs meet business requirements
    • Support technical design activities related to data, databases, packaged solutions and infrastructure components
    • Provide solid DBA skills on Oracle RAC, ASM GRID and Data Guard installation, configuration, and troubleshooting production issues
    • Maintain and ensure availability for multiple production and development environments
    • Hands-on experience and support the upgrade and patching for the Oracle 11g/12c database and related software
    • Provide RMAN backup and recovery support and make recommendations regarding enhancements and/or improvements to the production databases
    • Maintain security and integrity controls and formulate policies, procedures, and standards relating to database management
    • Support the implementation of all required security updates as directed by applicable STIGs and DOS ISSO policies
    • Previous experience of resolving database system related POA&M finding is a plus


    • Must be a US Citizen and have an active DOD Secret clearance. Ability to obtain a Top Secret a plus
    • Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Systems, Software Engineering Business
    • 2-5 years of experience with database systems, data management and/or database development
    • Ability to work second-shift operational support Monday through Friday and some weekends, 8-hour shift starting at 11:00 am or 12:00 pm.
    • Ability to independently design, build, administer, manage, and maintain Oracle databases with general direction and oversight
    • Minimum 3 years of strong Oracle 11g or 12c DBA experience with specific knowledge of RAC, ASM, GoldenGate, Data Guard, RMAN, Patching, AND/OR Security
    • Specific knowledge of writing custom monitoring reports for 12c OEM
    • Strong communication skills to communicate to ISSO and IA management and provide POAM resolution for current systems
    • Previous experiences on Oracle Engineered Systems like Exadata and Sun Super Cluster are welcome
    • Experience working with Oracle Cloud Computing (private or public) is a plus
    • Support software development and systems integration teams working on large Oracle database applications
    • Experience with database tools and languages, such as SQL, PL/SQL, SQL*Plus, Toad, SQL Developer, Enterprise Manager
    • Experience troubleshooting and resolving complex database related issues
    • Ability to assess change requests, defects, trouble reports, and ad hoc database query requests and make recommendations on design approaches and alternatives
    • Ability to develop unit tests, testing approaches, and creating test data to ensure that corporate databases are of the highest possible quality prior to implementation into the production environment
    • Trusted professional who can work in a team environment and who can communicate and present effectively to the customer.
    • Proficiency in the use MS Word, Excel, PowerPoint
    • Ability to prioritize and work with multiple assignments simultaneously
    • Ability to interact effectively with all levels of management, customers, peers, and staff
    • Strong organizational skills

    • Ability to learn quickly and adapt to ad-hoc changes in the environment

    Desired Qualifications

    • Experience supporting clustering, replication and high availability system and database architectures
    • Prior experience tuning databases to improve performance on high transaction systems
    • Any Oracle database/development related certifications are a major plus (OCA, OCP)
